Reflection
Initially I didn't think much of location or school size but this trip changed that. By seeing large, medium, and very small campuses, I could understand what would work for me.
I realized that very small schools would not necessarily work for me because it would be too quiet and intimate, on the contrary I might not do too well in a college with 100+ class sizes because I do like to have some sort of contact with my teachers.
I liked the idea of private schools because it seemed that there was a better choice of classes and the learning style might not be so strict. Colleges like Chapman worked for me because they were still medium but they had very strong academic programs. I also found that I prefer semesters rather than quarter systems because it would reduce the stress. I would have to do more research on the pros and cons of quarter systems before deciding if it is for me.
I am looking forward to making my own path and experiencing college life. I hope to learn how to work at a true college level and get comfortable with operating at that caliber. However, I am worried that I will make a mistake or encounter an obstacle that I hadn’t foreseen. In this case I would just have to be flexible and adapt to the challenges.
I am most definitely interested in study abroad programs, I would have study abroad options on my criteria for colleges. I saw some very interesting built-in study abroad programs that I would like to research more.
In terms of extracurricular activities and involvement in clubs, I would actually like to be a tour guide. I have been a tour guide at high tech and I would like to elevate that even more. I don’t know how I feel about Greek life but I might look into some academic fraternities if they offer good benefits like scholarships.
I am interested in attending a medium sized school, most likely private. I want medium sized because I don’t mind approximately 30 person class sizes, but I do want to be able to get to know my teacher. I feel like private schools have a lot more to offer for financial aid and clubs as well. Too small of a school and I would get to tired of the same people and amenities, too large and I might get too stressed out or lost.
